Must every participant fundraise?

No, you may make a personal donation for $125 instead. It is a tax deductible donation. Think of it as a "Buy it Now" entry fee.

Where do the funds from the Echelon Gran Fondo go?

Net proceeds from the Echelon Gran Fondo directly benefit the LOCAL HOSPITAL’S, CANCER CENTER as well as the Lance Armstrong Foundation—Livestrong.

Will reaching certain fundraising levels qualify participants to receive incentives?

Yes! There are various incentive levels for all Echelon Participants. Visit the Incentives Page for more information. At each Echelon Gran Fondo the organization will recognize outstanding fundraising efforts with special awards during the Saturday night Fundraising Appreciation Dinner.

Why is there a fundraising minimum?

The primary goal of the Echelon Gran Fondo is to raise funds to support the millions of people across the globe affected by cancer. Through the dollars and awareness that we raise, we can inspire and empower individuals, and we can take aim at the gaps between what is known and what is done to prevent suffering and death due to cancer

What percentage dollars will go to the Hospitals, Cancer centers and Livestrong?

100% of net proceeds with the lion share staying at the local level.

What are your expense ratios? Who pays for this all?

Events are financed by contributors, fundraisers, and sponsors. Large established charities typically pay out 75% of fund raising proceeds to their recipients. That said, we recognize the hard work of our participants who fund raise and we want to put on a first class event with great food, music, a safe course, timing, etc. We expect our expense ratio to be higher, especially in our first year. Since we are a charity, our financial records will be public.
